Fare: £18.00 per head
Depart: Penny Black pub, Pond Hill, next to Sheffield Interchange – 2.00pm

The Lower Don Valley was the powerhouse of Sheffield’s heavy steel industry and Attercliffe was where its workers lived. Though many buildings have disappeared, what remains is a fascinating insight into the life of a once-thriving community.
This half-day tour with commentary uses a heritage Sheffield Corporation double-deck bus to explore sites in Attercliffe, Carbrook and Darnall dating from the seventeenth-century to the twenty-first.
The itinerary may vary from the April and June Bus Rides to include new opportunities to visit historic locations in the Valley: it will certainly include the Zion Graveyard (opened 1805) and the English Institute of Sport (opened 2003). Other sites will be announced as soon as possible.
Mike Higginbottom grew up in Attercliffe and has researched aspects of its fascinating history.

Places are limited so that everyone can have a top-deck seat, yet people with mobility and other impairments are very welcome to use the lower deck.
Please be aware that the Bus Ride uses a vintage vehicle which has no seatbelts. The steps on to the back platform and upstairs are steeper than on modern buses. Please discuss any special mobility needs when booking.
