Both banks of the great estuary of the River Humber contain fascinating and sometimes unexpected historical sites – in the city of Hull and the towns of East Yorkshire and North-East Lincolnshire, and in the wide-open spaces of Holderness and linked by the dramatic Humber Bridge.
This tour-programme included walking-tours of Hull and Beverley, visits to the Lincolnshire towns of Barton-on-Humber, Grimsby and Cleethorpes and to the Holderness resorts of Hornsea and Withernsea, with guided tours of the fine churches of Holy Trinity and St Mary Lowgate in Hull, St Patrick’s Church, Patrington and the Minster and St Mary’s, Beverley, visits to Wilberforce House and Streetlife Museum in Hull, the Wilderspin National School, Barton-on-Humber and the Fisheries Heritage Centre, Grimsby.
All these places are described and illustrated in the 80-page tour handbook. For further information about some of these sites (and some others), please click here.
